On a mission to create the best healthcare technology in the world
We are problem solvers. Our humanistic approach to healthcare technology means that we always look at how technology impacts the daily lives of healthcare workers and patients โ and find ways to make it better. We’ve been doing this for over 20 years, and today, every single one of us is driving this mission.
Two Decades Focused on Simplifying Healthcare
We’ve spent two decades at the intersection of healthcare and technologyโsolving complex problems, building lasting partnerships, and showing up for clients when it matters most.
Our story began in 2006, when Craig Luce launched EHR Integration Services with a simple mantra: โSimplifying Healthcare Interfaces.โ His belief that healthcare IT didnโt have to be so complicated was shared by Steve Buttitta, who envisioned technology that was smarter, more human, and more impactful. In August 2020, those visions came together as Keena Healthcare.
Today, Keena is 100% employee-owned. More than a milestone, it reflects who we’ve always been: a team deeply invested in our work and the clients who depend on us.
Why Keena?
The healthcare IT landscape is rapidly evolving, with organizations facing challenges in AI-driven automation, interoperability, and patient-centered digital transformation. Keenaโs services help multi-specialty practices and integrated health networks navigate emerging technologies. Our goal is to optimize EHR/PM and ancillary systems and implement data-driven strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce provider burnout, and improve patient outcomes.
Now 100% Employee-Owned
In 2025, Keena became a 100% employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). For our team, that means a direct stake in the work we do every day. For our clients, it means partnering with people who are personally invested in your successโnot just professionally.
Employee ownership reinforces what has always defined Keena: accountability, longevity, and a commitment to outcomes. When our clients succeed, so do we.
Our Story
Keena Healthcare Technology was founded in August 2020 through through the merger of EHR Integration Services and Byte Sized Solutions, both established in 2006. Before the merger, the two companies collaborated on hundreds of projects, discovering they shared not only complementary capabilities, but also a common set of values: honesty, accountability, and an unwillingness to say โit canโt be done.โ
Even the name reflects that philosophy. “Keena” combines the Estonian word kena, meaning kind, with keen, meaning smartโa reminder of what our team always strives to be.
That foundation has shaped everything that followed. Today, Keenaโs team spans EHR data conversions, document management, clinical workflow, interface development, financial consulting, and moreโsupported by a platform recognized among the top vendors for technical services in the 2024 Best in KLAS report. The ESOP is the latest expression of those valuesโand the next chapter in Keenaโs story.
2006
Steve Buttitta and Craig Luce each founded their own healthcare IT companiesโByte Sized Solutions and EHR Integration Services. Both organizations quickly earned reputations for innovative data management solutions, technical expertise, and strong customer partnerships.
2010
Steve and Craig first collaborated on a shared client project. The partnership revealed a strong alignment in values, work ethic, and approach to healthcare IT, leading to an ongoing strategic collaboration between the two companies.
2010โ2020
Over the next decade, Byte Sized Solutions and EHR Integration Services worked side-by-side on more than 600 projects for 150 healthcare organizations, contributing more than 120,000 hours of combined expertise across clinical, operational, and financial systems.
2020
After years of successful collaboration, the two organizations merged their clinical and operational divisions to form Keena Healthcare Technologyโbringing together deep experience in healthcare data management, optimization, and IT services under one company.
2021
Keena expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of the financial services division of Byte Sized Solutions, creating a more comprehensive suite of solutions spanning the full healthcare delivery continuum.
Today
Keena continues to help healthcare organizations improve workflows, optimize data, and solve complex operational challenges through innovative technology solutions and a customer-first approach.
