This Policy also outlines how our clients can verify the accuracy of this information or request that we delete, change, or update information.

Keena Healthcare Technology maintains a strong commitment to protect the data of our clients and their patients, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards to safeguard that data.

Who We Are

Keena Healthcare Technology is a leader in software solutions for health care providers. Pursuant to the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), Keena Healthcare Technology clients are Covered Entities, and Keena Healthcare Technology is considered a Business Associate of our clients. HIPAA mandates strict control of any personally identifiable information of patients who utilize the services of Covered Entities. Therefore, and as required by Federal law, Keena Healthcare Technology enters into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with all of our clients for which Keena Healthcare Technology will have access to PHI, an agreement which mandates strict protection for patient information received from the Covered Entity. Keena Healthcare Technology does not provide any direct services to or receive any information directly from patients.

Information We Collect

Pursuant to the Business Associate Agreement in place with each and every client for which Keena Healthcare Technology has access to PHI, Keena Healthcare Technology has legal permission to access certain Covered Entity client data, including some data relating to patients. All patients who provide information to a Covered Entity have given legal permission for that information to be shared with the Covered Entity’s Business Associates like Keena Healthcare Technology. All of the information collected by Keena Healthcare Technology from our clients is information that Keena Healthcare Technology has legal authority to access, use, and store. Keena Healthcare Technology will only access or store any data essential to fulfill the requirements of our duties with and to our clients.

How We Use Client Information

In order to provide the various services identified in the client’s Business Associate Agreement, Keena Healthcare Technology may retain and utilize client or patient personal data collected from our products, whether in the course of maintaining those products’ functionality or through further development of those or similar products. Such data may be shared with our partners or the other vendors whom we use to facilitate the functionality of our products. Any data shared with our partners or vendors is subject to the terms of the Business Associate Agreement, which requires strenuous data protection procedures. We do not share client data with any other affiliates or use client or patient personal data for any purposes beyond those specifically called for under the Business Associate Agreement.

How We Protect Client Information

Keena Healthcare Technology remains committed to keeping the data provided by clients secure, and we will take all reasonable and required precautions to protect client and patient personal data from loss, misuse, or alteration.

Vendors, contractors, and business associates of Keena Healthcare Technology who have access to client information, including patient personal data, are bound by the same standards as Keena Healthcare Technology, as required by federal and state laws.

How We May Share Client Data

Keena Healthcare Technology will not share, trade, or sell client data, including personal data of clients’ patients, to be used by any business except for the purposes stated within the client’s Business Associate Agreement. Additionally, aggregated and statistical patient data of a client may be shared with that client in a manner that does not identify patients personally. All such data sharing is pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Business Associate Agreement entered into between Keena Healthcare Technology and our client.

Pursuant to that Business Associate Agreement, Keena Healthcare Technology may share client or patient personal data with any person or company that acquires Keena Healthcare Technology’s business or any portion of the Keena Healthcare Technology business to which client or patient personal data relates. Keena Healthcare Technology will ensure that any person or company to which client data (including patient personal data) is transferred agrees to abide by the same privacy obligations as Keena Healthcare Technology.
